Subject: ATM in Bictor Lobby

Hello Pat,

I often visit the Victor Building to visit the Central Office of MCB or to
attend Michigan Commission For The Blind Board Meetings. As I understand
the Victor Building is a privately owned, leased building housing, not only
the Michigan Commission for the Blind But the Commission on Disability
Concerns, Michigan Rehabilitation Services and other entities directly
serving persons with disabilities, including a lot of blind people. I like
to use our very nice snack bar and help out our operator. As most people
know, who know me, I pretty much live from ATM to ATM. It is always
frustrating to try to get money from the ATM in the Victor Center building
since it is not accessible. I either have to find a sighted person who I
trus to help me make a withdrawal or go over to PNC where there is an
accessible ATM.

I ran across the following, tonight from the ADAG rules about ATM's. Since
you are the Governor's ADA coordinator, I figure you can call the credit
Union and get it fixed. There are lots of accessible ATM's around the city
these days, so finding one shouldn't be much of a problem for the Credit
Union. Since it is the law, I am sure they will be happy to comply,
considering you represent the Governor.

Please let me know of your progress. If it will help, I will call the
Credit Union and let them know that I have brought this to your attention.

For your convenience, I have included the relevant section, below:

ADA Accessibility Guidelines for Buildings and Facilities (ADAAG)

As amended through September 2002

(20)

Where automated teller machines (ATMs) are provided, each ATM shall comply
with

the requirements of

4.34

except where two or more are provided at a location, then only one must
comply.

EXCEPTION: Drive-up-only automated teller machines are not required to
comply with

4.27.2

,

4.27.3

 and

4.34.3

Thank you for your prompt attention to this accessibiliby matter.

Regards,

Fred
