Re: Request for reasonable accommodations and information from meeting

Jo Anne Pilarski, Chair Michigan Commission for the Blind

(via e-mail)

Geraldine Taeckens, Commissioner MCB

Via email

Dear Jo Anne and Geri:

I am writing today to request the following documents referenced in the quoted section here from the FEBRUARY 23, 2007 Michigan Commission for the Blind meeting:

“Mr. Larry Ball's attorney, reported in the previous meeting, was received in accessible format and forwarded to the Chair on December 14. Following referral

to the legal representative at the Attorney General's Office, a full copy of this correspondence and the MCB response was forwarded to the board in their

information packet February 14.”

Ms. Pilarski and Ms. Taeckins you were on the board then, and now. You had these documents in accessible format then. Under the accessible meetings requirements of both the Rehabilitation Act and the effective communications requirements of both the ADA, Title II and Section 504 you must remit, as so should the MCB all such items in accessible format to the public. Thus I am requesting this information from you today. You simply may send it to me by simple e-mail.

I must also remind you that individually you are public officials and this request is made of you in your public capacity.

In other words it is not made of Patrick Cannon.

I must also say here and directly that a failure to respond to a request for reasonable accommodations under the ADA or 504 is a violation of both in and of itself.

Sincerely,

Paul Joseph Harcz, Jr.
