Dear Fellow Michigan Federationists:
Would anyone like to take up this worthy cause and be the Michigan
contact on this conference call on Sunday evening, July 17, concerning
the subminimum wage? If so, please contact me at (313) 271-3058. Thank
you for working with me to change what it means to be blind in
Michigan.

Sincerely,
Larry Posont

Subject: Subminimum Wage Strategy Call

My Federation Brothers and Sisters:

First of all, I would like to inform you that the meeting of the
Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) to
mark up the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) has been postponed once
again. The hearing is now scheduled to take place on Wednesday,
August 3, 2011. Although we can celebrate the fact that our advocacy
efforts are having an impact, we must recognize that this is
only a postponement of the eventual battle that we must fight to
completely eliminate the payment of subminimum wages. We must
continue to ensure that our voices are heard on this issue.

A strategy teleconference will be held this Sunday, July 17, at 8:00
p.m. Eastern. We will be discussing the following:

* Petitions for the Removal of Section 511
* Rallies against Subminimum Wages

We are encouraging all affiliate presidents to participate. If you
are unable to join the call please assign someone to call in on
behalf of your affiliate. The call-in information is below.

Telephone Number: (888) 205-5513
Conference ID: 413146

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Anil
