Joe Harcz has mentioned numerous times that he does not get materials in
the format he needs and that others do not either. Anna, my daughter,
just received one of the few pieces from the commission in print and
braille. I want to urge you to call your counselor, and please note the
date and time of your call and the return call. Ask just for your IPE or
other relevant document in the right format. Take note of when it
arrives. If several of us around the state do this, I think we can get a
sense of the problem. If my case were closed, and I was considering
re-opening it, I would want to look at my past IPE and the wording of the
document I signed to close the case. Joe is right that we should all
get anything we ask for in the right format. Our agency should be
exemplary in this way, as a model to other service agencies in the state.
You can help make it a priority by asking, and demanding, that your
reading media be provided in documents to you. The local number for the
agency is 517-373-2062, and the toll free number is 1-800-292-4200 to
1-800-323-2535 to Escanaba. Please email me or the list to let us all
know if you have requested your IPE.
Someone else may want to suggest something else that would make sense to
ask for. I just want us to ask and make note of how long the process
takes.

Lydia
