Do these numbers jive with reality, or the reporting in FY 2009 to RSA that MCB had $400,000 in this account and received a federal match for it?

Where did this money go?

And again this isn't even reconciled with itself.

If a BEP operator submitted anything close to this type of vodoo accounting then hhe or she would be removed with cause.

This notice is in response to your September 27, 2010 request for information regarding:

 

  1.. Request that $15, 000 of Michigan Commission for the Blind (MCB) be directed from the 
Gift fund towards continuing the Newsline for the Blind. As indicated by the MCB's 

September 28, 2010 response, the gift fund does not have sufficient funds to consider 

this request.

 

  2.. Complete accounting of the MCB Gift Fund. Contributions made to the MCB 
      Gift Fund, fiscal year 2008, $12,022.17; fiscal year 2009, $3,560.00; and fiscal 

            year 2010, $886.00.The MCB fully expends the gift fund each fiscal year for 

            vocational rehabilitation case services.  

 

  3.. Fiscal Year 2009 expenditures from the Stanley F. Herman Trust Fund. The 
amount of $15,000 was expended to support 8 low income blind youth with the 

purchase of 2 digital voice recorders,1 Victor Reader Sream, 1 Zoom Text, 

2 CC TVs, 1 Braillenote MPOWER 32 CELL w ESP and dictionary, and 1 pair 

of telescopic glasses.

Dear Pat and Connie,

 

Since there seems to be no gift fund application and since Pat Cannon directed me to you Ms. Zanger for references to gift fund requests I am formally requesting that $15,000 is directed immediately from the gift fund towards continuing the Newsline for the Blind. Moreover, I am requesting a complete accounting of those funds and MCB Board approval of same over the years. In addition I wish to know where the Stanley F. Herman Trust line item for last fiscal year was expended as it appeared to be at $400,000  000.

 

Regardless I am assured that this request will go before the MCB Board as is required under PA 260 and the MCB Policy manual.

 

Let's simply get some of this gift fund money going towards Newsline eh?
