No Financial Documents Required At School For Deaf And Blind

Jacksonville, IL -- Parents of students at the Illinois Schools for the Deaf and the Visually Impaired won't have to worry about submitting proof of income.

The state Senate reversed language in a proposed bill yesterday that would have required the documents. It also eliminates a provision that says the Department

of Human Services will conduct a financial analysis on each student every year. The Legislature originally approved the law in June but education advocates

say it violated federal law. The bill now goes to the House which could vote on it by Thursday.
