[nfbmi-talk] outragious assault on gude dog user

Hello Bob and Others,

Blaming the owner is blaming the victim. There is absolutely no excuse for
assaulting this person. According to the story, she did not resist or in
any way provoke this assault. The ligitimacy of her use of a service dog is
an issue for court. It is not for the security guard to decide whether she
can lawfully be there. The Police could have been called. Further, she
could have ben allowed to have her appointment and there could have been a
follow-up. According to the article, neither she nor her dog were creating
any kind of problem.

We as blind people are too quick to assume we are to blame. Rent-a-cops
have no real authority and should have escalated this matter to someone with
authority.

Warmest Regards,

Fred

I agree to a point. I always keep my ID with me and also she has the school
tag on her. But if you have a dog in harness and someone observes you for a
minute or so, they can clearly see what the dog is there for!
