National Federation of the Blind of Michigan Board Meeting Minutes, April 26, 2012

Quorum, yes Larry Posont, Mike Powell, Dave Robinson, Nick Wilcox, Mary Wurtzel, Sarah Norwood, and Melinda Latham. Terri Wilcox was late.

Dave Robinson made a motion to accept the Secretary's report. Nick Wilcox seconded the motion. The Secretary's Report was approved.

No Treasurer's Report was available.

The Executive Order has been withdrawn. A long discussion occurred concerning an updated Executive Order.

Fund raising license, Dave Robinson. Data from 1 year is still missing. It has been suggested that we make up information but we will not do this. 

Quarterly Board Meeting in Ann Arbor, Nick Wilcox. The Quarterly Board Meeting is at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 420 W. Liberty, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. The Quarterly Board Meeting is on May 12, from 10:00 to 4:00. We will have pizza, pop, salad and cookies for $7.00. Agenda items are needed.

National convention, Dave Robinson. The form has been sent in to reserve the National Federation of the Blind of Michigan table in the exhibit room.

Presidential Report, Larry Posont. Larry attended the Michigan Association of Education and Rehabilitation meeting. More speculation about the new Executive Order occurred. The Rob Essenberg letter was discussed.

New Business: All of the 2011 resolutions that are about the Michigan commission for the blind except 2011-10 should be sent out to the commission board.

Resolution 2011-10 will be discussed and voted upon at the Quarterly Board Meeting. The rest of the resolutions will be sent out to whom they are addressed.

A long discussion occurred concerning Americans with Disabilities Act violations by the Michigan Commission for the Blind and the lack of proper signage at the Michigan Commission for the Blind Training Center. A complaint will be filed concerning these issues. Mike Powell will send out letters concerning signage at the Training Center. Mary Wurtzel will work on upcoming state Convention proposals after she returns from vacation.

old Business: Sarah Norwood is working on transportation issues in Detroit.
