[nfbmi-talk] why wasn't automark used here?

Hi Jim,

I'm unclear which hotline you called, but my knee jerk reaction is the
advise was dead on wrong for these issues cannot be cleared up until
identified. Moreover, each county clerk had a hotline which the manufacturer
over such issues and they do have trouble shooters in the field.

Personally, I think this might be like Flint which is run by lazy personnell
who have scoffed at the laws for years and that is documented by a DOJ
Settlement.

Regardless I would urge you and all to at least lodge a narrative of your
experiences both with NFB, your county clerk, Michigan Protection and
advocacy Services and even in detail upon this list.

By the way sometimes things are very simple ...

During the primary here in my precinct the clerk didn't actually turn the
device on which takes a key. That was remedied in five minutes.

It should have been done prior of course. As he was embarrassed by his lapse
though and educted by me this did not happen in November.

Just some thoughts.

Joe

The fellow on the hotline, sorry don't remember his name, said to let an
official assist me with the ballot, since I was already there.

aarticle. What did the hotline say?

Elizabeth, this is what happened tome when I went to vote; the Automark
wasn't not working when I went to vote. I called our hotline about this
and, since there was no backup machine, I was told to have an official help
me with this.

I think this would be a good idea. Also, it is possible the Automark was
not working properly when the voter went to vote. I know this could be
possible because it happened to me. However, I have good reason to believe
that my ballot was marked how I wanted it to be marked. I just felt bad
taking so much time with the poll workers reading the ballot to a sleep
deprived college student even though I know this is part of there job. I
actually think the punch cards were more accessible in terms of having to
have someone read you the ballot. I felt as though I had more control over
who I was voting for when using the punch card system as I could physically
punch in my selections after they were read to me.

Just my thoughts on the subject for what they are worth.

Elizabeth
