Job Description
This position functions as a special education consultant for the Michigan
Department
of Education-Low Incidence Outreach program. The purpose is to provide
consulting
services and technical assistance to school districts, administrators,
teachers,
parents, paraprofessionals, and other service providers that enable them to
effectively
serve and improve the quality of educating children with visual impairments,
including
those with multiple impairments. The essential functions of the position
require
advanced knowledge and expertise to advise program administrators regarding
services/programs
for the visually impaired, including those with multiple impairments. The
consultant
in this position will prescribe methods/techniques to implement or improve
programs/services.
 Required Education and Experience:
Possession of a master's degree in special education, school social work, or
school
psychology.
Current or past possession of a teacher's certificate, comparable to the one
issued
inMichigan
, with endorsement in an area of special education is required.
Special Education Consultant 12
One year of professional administrative or consultative experience in the
field of
special education.
Special Education Consultant P13
Two years of professional administrative or consultative experience in the
field
of special education, including one year equivalent to a Special Education
Consultant
12.
