Strategic State Plan Addresses Autism Spectrum
Disorder in Michigan
In August 2009, Michigan human service agency
directors approved the development of a Michigan Autism Spectrum
Disorder (ASD) State Plan to address the state’s growing rate of
people with an ASD. A development committee and advisory board were
appointed to create the ASD State Plan.
Michigan Special Education Mediation Program
Is Free Service That Helps Districts Avoid Complaints
Did you know there’s a program that can help
your district avoid costly and time-consuming special education
complaints? The Michigan Department of Education (MDE), Office of
Special Education’s (OSE) Michigan Special Education Mediation Program
(MSEMP) provides facilitation and mediation services. Educators and
parents can use these services to avoid or resolve disputes over
education services for students with disabilities.
FOCUS on Results is produced and distributed by the
Center for Educational Networking (CEN). CEN is funded under the
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and supports
mandated communication efforts of the Michigan Department of
Education, Office of Special Education.
