Hi folks, it is getting closer to my big move back to MI. I will be moving
the end of Sept. In the interim I have been doing a great amount of
research. On transportation, both public and ada transit. Does anyone on
this list live or have lived in Annarbor or Ypsilanti? I have researched the
smart bus transportation, that service seem more limited than the service in
Annarbor & Ypsilanti. I spoke with Mr. Pattin who work at smart, and he said
transportation in Annarbor area is better than the Smart Bus transit. I do
realize that Annarbor is a college town, however, there may be areas in
Annarbor that is less busy than the Univercity area.
Due to so much changes in the Detroit area, I don't feel safe. The suburbs
outside of Detroit which Smart Bus services, is limited hours of service. I
welcome all opinions.

Alexa,
I think Southfield is okay and would be a good place to live. However, your
standards would be different than mine. Exactly what are you looking for?
Is transportation most important to you? What price range do you want? Do
you want to live in a home, loft, apartment, rowhouse? Do you want to live
in a diverse population, i.e., all ages and ethnicities? If you have a lot
of money, Rochester Hills, Bloomfield Hills, The Grosse Pointes and Sherwood
Forrest in Detroit would be for you. If you have a mid to upper range in
mind, and using a taxi service is not a problem for you, then some of the
gated communities in Detroit might work. After all, we have the Detroit
River and we are just a stone's throw away from Canada. If you like sports,
Detroit has the Red Wings, Lions and Tigers. Oh my! If you like music, We
have the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Opera House. Love to eat? Lots
of great restaurants. The Princess and Diamond Jack cruises are also here
in Detroit. The NFB Detroit would be more than happy to welcome you to our
meeting the second Saturday of each month held at the Rehabilitation
Institute in the Detroit Medical Center. Want more education? We have
Wayne State University, Marygrove College, and Wayne County Community
College There's lots more that I could say about Detroit, but I think I
painted a pretty good picture.
Anyway, if you would be more specific about what you are looking for, I
would be more than happy to help if I can. Feel free to write me off list
if i can help with info about Detroit.
