Job Description
The manager in this position is one of three Regional Managers that direct
the Bureau
of Services for Blind Persons (BSBP) programs for their ascribed geographic
region.
This individual provides the direction and supervision of 10 professional
staff including
one assistant manager that covers the western part of the state. BSBP's West
Region
Manager's position became vacant and needs to be filled to meet the demands
of services
and to be in compliance with the federal guidelines for timeliness of
service delivery.
The Regional Manager manages 3 field offices. The manager is responsible for
providing
direction and the management of a variety of rehabilitation service
programs, which
includes vocational rehabilitation, supported employment, independent
living, and
youth low vision and transition services. The Regional Manager is
responsible for
developing relations with employers and the employment community as well as
making
them aware of BSBP's Business Services program. The position is also
responsible
for developing cooperative agreements with other community rehabilitation
organizations,
intermediate school districts, Michigan Works! and participating on their
advisory
boards.
Required Education and Experience:
Education
Possession of a master's degree with a major in rehabilitation counseling,
guidance
and counseling, special education, social work, psychology, or occupational
therapy.
Experience
Two years of professional experience equivalent to a Vocational
Rehabilitation Manager
13 or Rehabilitation Consultant 12, or one year equivalent to a Vocational
Rehabilitation
Manager 14 or Rehabilitation Consultant 13.
