Minutes, National Federation of the Blind of Michigan October 3 2013
Quorum yes, Larry Posont, Mike Powell, Joe Sontag, Terri Wilcox, Mark Eagle, Nick Wilcox, Sarah Norwood, and Dave Robinson.
Treasurer's Report, Mark Eagle.  The Newsline Account has $1,783.26.  The Pnc Account has $82.75.  The Paypal account has $1,441.07. 
The grant for youth has $14,129.38.  The General Fund before pending payments has $97,226.  Mike Powell moved to close the Pnc 
account and transfer the money to Comerica.  Nick Wilcox seconded the motion.  The motion passed.  Terri Wilcox moved to accept the 
Treasurer's Report.  Dave Robinson seconded the motion.  The Treasurer's Report was adopted.  An email was sent by Larry Posont 
concerning minimum wage jobs but not management positions for blind people.  The agenda is nearing completion and includes voting 
machine demonstrations and a panel on transportation.  Ed Rodgers has been invited to speak at State Convention and reluctantly 
agreed.  Tables will be available for literature and our products.  Larry Posont intends to get and sell cinnamon almonds.  Larry 
Posont is working on a van leaving Detroit at 9:30 for State Convention.  Limited financial assistance is available for State 
Convention.  Forty-five people are registered.  There is interest in the Convention from members of the Advisory Board.  The 
Resolutions meeting is from 4:00 to 6:00 on Friday afternoon.  Resolutions are needed.  Send them to Dave Robinson.  Consider 
writing a resolution about Dr.  Nemeth.  The Affiliate Action luncheon will discuss different programs of the National Federation of 
the Blind including Pac, Scholarships, Vehicle Donation and our publications.  Marcus Simmons could discuss Vehicle Donation. 
Lillian Quickly and Leonard Gross are assisting Mary Wurtzel with Senior Fair.  From 7:00 to 9:00, concurrent meetings of students, 
Dog Guides and Merchants will occur.  There will also be a Members at Large meeting from 9:00 to 10:00.  Help support the affiliate 
with auction items.  The agenda will be presented in print, Braille, and electronic formats.  Vending locations will be put on the 
bid line without an interview.  The Grand Rapids Chapter is meeting on October 12 at the Ihop on 28th Street.  There is an 
informational meeting on October 15 in Jackson concerning blindness and the Chapter.  The public relations campaign moves to phase 2 
as of noon today.  It concerns jobs being taken away from blind vendors.  It will consist of a news conference prepared by Truscott 
Rossman.  Extend an invitation to Truscott Rossman for State Convention.  Dan Frye is laid off and unable to proceed because of the 
shut down.  We intend to ask for his expertise.  Position papers will be placed on the web page and will be part of our public 
relations campaign.  The Kalamazoo Chapter met on Tuesday.  Mike Powell moved to adjourn at 9:14.  Sarah Norwood seconded the 
motion.  The meeting was adjourned.
