Dear Michigan Federationists:

The National Federation of the Blind of Michigan plans to hold a Braille Enrichment Literacy and Learning Program during the
first two weeks of August in 2014. This program and curriculum has been developed by the national office of the National Federation
of the Blind. It is geared for students four to twelve years of age. We plan to have the program in Oakland or Wayne Counties. The
program will be able to serve between five and fifteen children. It is a day program that runs for two weeks during the typical
school day. My husband and I, who are both blind and read Braille at 300 words per minute, will be teaching and mentoring the
children. We would also like to collaborate with a certified teacher of blind students. This teacher would need to have a belief in
Braille as a reading medium for blind students even if they have some residual vision. We would like the individual to have a strong
belief in skills of blindness for all blind children, such as the use of Braille and the long white cane for travel. Members of the
National Federation of the Blind would like to interview individuals that you think fit this description and who may be interested
in collaborating with the National Federation of the Blind of Michigan to assist with the program. Would you be willing to send me
names and email addresses of teachers that might be interested? Thank you very much for your time and attention concerning this
important matter.

Sincerely,
Terri Wilcox
Secretary, National Federation of the Blind of Michigan
Ann Arbor Chapter President
Bell Program Coordinator
