Gov. Snyder in Toronto for Great Lakes talk, meetings Associated Press Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder is visiting Toronto for a speech to the Council of the
Great Lakes Region and meetings with Ontario business and government leaders. Snyder's office says Monday's trip is important because of the extensive
trade between his state and its neighboring Canadian province. He says Canada "is Michigan's most important trading partner, both in imports and exports.
Snyder's office says Michigan led all U.S. states in 2012 with $25 billion in exports to Canada, which accounts for 46 percent of the state's total exports.
Snyder says 240 Canadian-owned companies employ 22,523 Michiganians at 700 or more locations across the state.
