Two more good pieces of transit news.
First, the Grand Rapids Silver Line, the first so-called bus rapid
transit line in Michigan, starts service on Monday. It features level
boarding, ticket machines before you board, and 10 minute service during
rush hour. We were told at the state convention last year that the
ticket machines would be accessible. Hopefully someone'll be able to try
this out at some point.
The route serves Division Avenue, the MEdical Mile, and downtown.

Meanwhile, Ann Arbor is getting more frequent service including later
trips on evenings and Saturdays and a new route to serve the public
library in Ypsy. It's the first changes as a part of a 5 year plan
approved by a wide margin in may.

Speaking of Ann Arbor, THe Ride's CEO, Michael Ford, is leaving that
post to take up the new Regional Transit Authority for southeast
Michigan. Based on his track record in Ann Arbor, this is a promising
development for the future of transit in the Detroit area.
