This was shared on another list about Oregon, and I thought what wonderful
and thoughtful positive action toward the blind, in an attempt to
accommodate the blind under existing law and regulations.

I know from first-hand experience here in Michigan courts and administrative
hearings system, such affirmative positive action is sorely needed.

[Oregon State Bar]<http://www.osbar.org>

Notice to All Oregon Attorneys:

Effective February 10, 2014, all hearing notices sent from an Oregon circuit
court which uses the Odyssey system will link the recipient to a Portable
Document Format (PDF) file instead of a Tagged Image File Format (TIFF)
image

This change is being implemented to facilitate use of screen-reading
software by people who have a visual impairment. TIFF images are not
compatible with that software.

The Odyssey system is currently being used by circuit courts in Benton,
Clatsop, Columbia, Crook, Jackson, Jefferson, Linn, Polk, Tillamook, and
Yamhill Counties. The Odyssey system will go live in Multnomah County on May
12, 2014, and in Douglas, Josephine, and Marion Counties on December 8,
2014. All Oregon circuit courts will be using the Odyssey system by June
2016.

Any problems with the new process should be reported to the OJD Help Desk,
at 503-986-5582 or
ETSDhelp at ojd.state.or.us<mailto:ETSDhelp at ojd.state.or.us>.
