Cora’s Café in the Anderson House Office Building officially opens Monday, May 19 featuring a variety of breakfast and lunch options along with 50 Michigan-made

products.

Patrons will be able to choose from grab-n-go food items including wedge sandwiches, wraps, croissants, breakfast items and salads. There also will be

a manned food station available. The Michigan Bureau of Services for Blind Persons will manage the café, as required by law.

“Michigan residents and other visitors will now have a convenient place to grab a bite to eat when visiting state lawmakers or attending committee meetings

at the Anderson Building,” said House Speaker Jase Bolger, R-Marshall. “As an added bonus, we’re thrilled the café will help showcase some of the great

food products made by Michigan companies.”

Cora’s Café and the Anderson House Office Building are named after Cora Reynolds Anderson, who served as the first woman and Native American in the Michigan

House of Representatives. The café will be located at the former “State Plate” site.

“State lawmakers, employees and guests have been eagerly anticipating the restaurant’s opening since it was announced in February,” said Tim Bowlin, director

of the House Business Office. “Having an on-site restaurant for our employees and guests will help improve overall service at the Anderson Building.”

The café, which is open to the public, also will be home to the training center for the BSBP’s new Business Assistance and Development Program. The program

offers blind individuals advanced training in how to manage and own private-sector businesses.
