[nfbmi-talk] The briefest update

Thanks Martha. Doug and I were actually mostly awake this morning because both of us had this creeping feeling in our bones that another quake was coming. We did not feel that way yesterday...but man we are jumpy. I guess they had a load of quakes last fall and people say they get used to it. I'll have to ask my friend Fatos Floyd. Fatos is the former director of the Nebraska Center for the Blind but she is originally from Turkey. Fatos has lots of earth quake stories, including one where she was just sitting on her bed after school one day, minding her own business, when a 5 or 6 point something earthquake happened and knocked the whole front wall of her house into the street. She said people down there could just look up and see every room in her house...kind of like a dolls house from the olden days, you know when people like me were young! LOL. Anyway, I am proud to say that Fatos has come to Oklahoma to be part of Doug's team.

Now she can be our earth quake expert as well!

Hello all,
I just wanted to jump on the list for a minute to say that
Doug and I, along with Danaan the Orange Cat, have landed
safely in Oklahoma. Doug is busy making life better for
Oklahomans who are blind and loving his work! I am unpacking
boxes and Danaan is supervising.

We were shaken awake on Monday morning by an earth quake
that registered 4.3 on the Rictor scale. Now this might not
have been so bad if the center of the quake had not been
just about a mile from our house. Man, did you guys know
that an earth quake is really loud? Well I didn't but I do
now. And just in case we needed a reminder, we were awakened
this morning at the same time, and in the very same way!

Warmest Regards to all,
Christine
