Job Description Benefits Supplemental Questions
This position is a programmer/analyst for Attorney General’s (AG) highly complex in house, COTS and vendor hosted applications (Legal Files, Summation iBlaze, etc.). Performs application development duties related to the design, development, enhancement, implementation and maintenance of new and existing computer systems. Serves as a technical consultant to the AG clients to develop solutions to streamline critical business processes according to the AG’s strategic plan. This position is integral to developing and maintaining AG’s automated processes, streamlining critical business processes, data integrity, and securing the AG systems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
•Knowledge of programming languages Java, VB 6.0 & .NET, ASP.NET
•Knowledge of systems development methodology
•Knowledge of database design methods
•Ability to recognize, gather, assemble, correlate and analyze facts; draw conclusions; define problems; and devise solutions and alternatives, in particular the ability to research and investigate existing program code to arrive at the definition of program problems.
•Ability to conduct interviews and establish and maintain effective relationships with systems users
•Ability to communicate effectively with others particularly technical terminology at a level appropriate to the audience
•Ability to work under pressure
***The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) is under legal obligation to have criminal history background checks performed (which includes finger printing), on some DTMB employees.
Board employees are required to complete and submit a yearly Financial Disclosure Statement (statement of assets and liabilities). Additionally, the Board conducts a credit check, personal background screening and criminal background check, including fingerprints on all employees.
Board employees are prohibited from participating in casino gaming in the State of Michigan and are not allowed on the property of Michigan casinos’ out-of-state affiliates without prior approval from the Executive Director. This prohibition includes Indian gaming facilities. Additionally, Board employees are prohibited from wagering on the results of live and simulcast horse races at licensed racing events in the state of Michigan. ***
Required Education and Experience:
Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, or mathematics.
Experience
No specific type or amount is required.
Alternate Education and Experience:
Possession of an associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, mathematics or equivalent; and two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician may be substituted for the education requirement.
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and three years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician may be substituted for the education requirement.
