Is this a Halloween Trick or Treat, or simply more re-election campaign
garbage? How can such a statement be taken with any seriousness, after four
years of destroying services and job opportunities for persons with
blindness and other disabilities?

Snyder seeks more hiring of disabled workers

LANSING, Mich.

Gov. Rick Snyder is directing state agencies to make it a goal to hire
people with disabilities and mental illnesses. The governor issued a
directive Monday that all executive agencies participate in a new program
designed to attract and retain disabled employees. Snyder's move stems from
recommendations made by a mental health commission Snyder created last year.
Lt. Gov. Brian Calley says the state of Michigan must "lead by example" so
other employers follow. The goal is boosting overall integrated employment
of disabled employees while keeping their personal information confidential.
The Snyder administration says it wants to ensure all state workers are
trained in disability etiquette and to enhance internship programs for youth
with disabilities. Snyder is asking a team to come back with a
recommendation and evaluation by April.
