U.S. Access Board to Hold Hearing and webinar on ICT Proposed Rule

The U.S. Access Board will hold a hearing in San Diego on March 5 from 9:30
to 11:30 on its proposed rule updating accessibility requirements for
information and communication technology (ICT) technology covered by Section
508 of the Rehabilitation Act and Section 255 of the Communication Act. The
event will provide an opportunity for members of the public to comment on
the Board's proposal which was released on February 18. It will be held at
the site of the California State University at Northridge (CSUN) Annual
International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference but will
be open to the general public. Hearing attendees do not have to register for
the CSUN conference.

The Board will hold a second hearing in Washington, D.C. on March 11. This
hearing will provide the option to comment by phone and in person.

Those who wish to testify at either hearing are encouraged to sign-up in
advance by contacting Kathy Johnson at johnson at access-board.gov, (202)
272-0041 (voice), or (202) 272-0082 (TTY). Preregistration, however, is not
required. For the comfort of all participants, attendees are requested to
refrain from using perfume, cologne, and other fragrances.

In addition, the Board will review the proposed rule in a free webinar on
March 31 from 1:00 - 2:30 (ET). Unlike the hearings, this event will not
afford an opportunity for public comment.

Written comments on the proposed rule will be accepted until May 28. For
