Minutes February 26, 2015
Quorum yes, Larry Posont, Mike Powell, J.J.  Meddaugh, Terri Wilcox, Mark Eagle, Dave Robinson, Derek Moore, Mary Wurtzel and Sarah 
Norwood.
Introduction of Participating Members
Sarah Norwood moved to approve the Agenda.  Mike Powell seconded the motion.  The agenda was approved.
Secretary's Reports, Terri Wilcox.  Mary Wurtzel moved to approve the January 31 Quarterly Minutes.  Mark Eagle seconded the motion. 
The Quarterly Minutes were approved.  Mike Powell moved to adopt the February 12 Minutes.  Mark Eagle seconded the motion.  After 
discussion about two changes, the Minutes were approved.

3.	 J.J.  Meddaugh moved to adopt the Treasurer's Report.  Mike Powell seconded the motion.  The motion passed.
President's Report, Larry Posont.  A meeting with Brian Calley or other appropriate people  is going to be requested.
Employment Seminar, J.J.  Meddaugh.  The registration form is ready for participants to use.  The date is confirmed for March 27-29. 
An announcement concerning the Employment Seminar should be sent to the Agency.
Youth Outreach, Fred Wurtzel.  Mary Wurtzel moved to accept the budget for the summer Science Program.  J.J.  Meddaugh seconded the 
motion.  The motion passed.  Dates involve the last week in July to the beginning of August.
National Convention 2015 Mugs A sample mug is being prepared.  The announcement concerning mugs should go in the May Braille 
Monitor.  Terri Wilcox moved to allocate $2,100 for travel mugs after Larry Posont sees the Braille on the sample.  J.J.  Meddaugh 
seconded the motion.  The motion passed.  A commemorative message may be put on the mugs.  IF you need financial assistance from the 
affiliate to attend National Convention, email or call Larry Posont by May 1.  New Convention attendees must apply for Jernigan 
Scholarships by April 15.  Mention this in chapter meetings.
Access to Metro Airport, Terri Wilcox.  It is difficult to access Metro Airport because Michigan flyer is located as far as possible 
from the terminal.  Terri Wilcox was not allowed to speak at the Regent's meeting on February 19, but is now being allowed to speak 
at the next meeting.  The original lawsuit only applied to the McNamara Terminal.  Both terminals are a problem.  MAER Conference 
Mary Wurtzel volunteers to attend.
Mugs will be donated for the prize.  Mugs will also be sold.
Committees Legislative, Mark Eagle Mark Eagle met the Capitol Director and architect.  An audit of the Capitol will cover all 
disabilities.  The public will be notified of accessibility standards.
Dog Guide Republicans and Democrats are ready to move forward with Dog Guide Legislation.  New Legislation should match National 
Legislation.  The National Federation of the Blind of Michigan, the National Association of Guide Dog Users and Legislators can work 
together to change guide dog law.
Membership all of us must work on Membership lists.
Braille, Terri Wilcox.  Braille outreach occurred.  The Braille production facility Is struggling with the Ueb and Nemeth transition 
that is occurring.  A meeting occurred between Cindy Olmstead, Dave Robinson and transcribers.  Problems with production involve 
merging all aspects of Braille plus increasing costs plus difficulties getting people certified to handle the transition.  Contact 
with Napub is needed.
Constitution and Bylaws Committee, Mike Powell.  A meeting was held on February 16.  Another is scheduled for March 2.  Revisions 
are being sent.  A report will be given by the Board meeting in May.
Human Services, Mary Ann Robinson.  The Human Services Committee is meeting Tuesday, March 3 at 7:00.  Mary Ann Robinson will meet 
with the National Policy and Law Committee on March 8.  She intends to reach out to the National Association of Social Workers.  The 
Department of Human Services is inaccessible to the blind.
Blind Merchants, Dave Robinson.  The committee spoke via conference call with Nicky Gacos and Terry Smith.  It was communicated to 
these two men that sighted interns are running vending locations with Vr dollars.  Blind vendors are not being employed.  They will 
talk to President Riccobono for next steps.  It may be a couple of weeks.
Mike Powell moved to adjourn at 10-12.  Sarah Norwood seconded the motion.  The meeting was adjourned.
