Here's another important opportunity for people to give feedback on
regional transit across Michigan.

Please read on for more info.

On behalf of Michigan 2-1-1/Michigan Association of United Ways (MAUW)
and the Michigan Department of Transportation’s (MDOT) Office of
Passenger Transportation, the KFH Group invites you to participate in
the Michigan Statewide Transit Study. This study is looking at
regional gaps in mobility, particularly for people with limited
transportation options such as veterans, older adults, individuals with
disabilities, and people with lower incomes. The study is also
identifying actions that can be taken by local transportation providers
and Michigan 2-1-1 to increase regional mobility.

This study builds upon the Governor’s Regional Prosperity Initiative
that established ten regions to create a better structure for
collaboration. Outreach efforts for the Michigan Statewide Transit
Study will be based on these regions, and the coordinated mobility plans
that will result from the study will be based geographically on the
Governor’s Regional Prosperity Regions. In addition, the study
incorporates work between MDOT and regional planning agencies on
regional transit mobility in support of Governor Snyder’s Special
Message to the Legislature on the topic of aging, “Making Michigan a
Great Place to Live Well and Age Well”.

Input from a wide range of stakeholders is a key component in the
study. Ten regional workshops have been scheduled across the State, and
we hope you can join us at the events that are most appropriate to your
services or interests. At these workshops you’ll have the opportunity
to discuss transportation needs in the region and provide your thoughts
on potential strategies, projects, and services to improve regional
mobility. Please follow this link to the project website where you will
find details on these workshops and can register to attend –
http://www.kfhgroup.com/michigan/statewidetransitplan.html
. Please register at least one week before a workshop.

We encourage you to forward this e-mail to others that may have interest
in the Michigan Statewide Transit Study and in the upcoming workshops.

If you are unable to attend a workshop we hope that you can stay
involved in the planning process through the project website. Please see
the “Feedback” tab to provide your input through a short survey.

Your assistance in this effort is critical, and we look forward to
working with you on the Michigan Statewide Transit Study. In the
meantime please see the “Contacts” page on the project website and let
us now if you have any questions or need additional information.

J.J.
