Thank you for this great message.  I, personally, look forward to working
with you to continue to build the Federation in Michigan.  Our state
convention was a great success with great attendance and lots of relevant
content with things which was of interest to a broad range of folks.  I look
forward to 2017 and all the possibilities it holds.

Greetings fellow federationists.

I would like to take this opportunity to address all of you for the first
time as your newly elected state president.  I started writing this message
a few days after state convention but with one thing and another one wonders
where the time goes.  I hope this finds everyone enjoying a happy and
blessed Thanksgiving.  I believe we have much to be thankful for as we have
the greatest gift of all which is each other.  It is my task as president to
carry the vision of our federation to all who need our message to live the
lives they want and to help enlighten the public as to how our talents,
abilities, and experience as blind people can only work to make the world a
better place.  It is your task to help me bring this about as together we
can only do great things if we focus on what is truly important.  Together
we are capable of exercising great power that will change lives if we remain
committed to one another and understand that each of us has individual
skills and talents that can contribute to making this possible.

 

Thanks to all who helped make our state convention a success.  .  To those
of you who couldn't be with us due to illness or sudden emergency I hope all
is well with you and that you will soon be with us again.  Know that our
thoughts were with you and your presence was definitely missed.

 

Keep good thoughts and prayers coming our way as we are starting to see
lines of communication opening up with entities that are beginning to
understand that they need to meet with us to discuss concerns if matters we
have been bringing to their attention are going to be resolved in a way that
is in the best interest of blind people.  

 

Think about what committees you want to either chair or serve on as we
develop a process where groups can start to meet regularly and make reports
on what they have come up with.  I know that some are having phone
conferences to stay in contact and this is a resource that has great
potential if we continue to build upon it.

I will make every effort to stay in touch to keep everybody informed and
feel free to email or phone me with any ideas.  I will enjoy hearing from
you as we are all friends and we always need to stay caught up on things.

So again, Happy Thanksgiving and I remain yours in the federation.
