Great idea! We can plan to again protest at the Michigan capitol, since
absolutely nothing positive has changed with the ADA and blind community in
5 years, including a resolution to our lawsuit for being restricted and
refused entry to the "free and open to the public" 25th anniversary
celebration!

We can meet at the Austin Blair Capitol statute to see if we are met by a
state police line of officers refusing us entry for carrying white canes,
the NFB banner, and signs protesting the poor state of the ADA in Michigan,
including the lack of ADA code compliant braille and print signage within
the Michigan Capitol, still another 5 years later, and after millions of
dollars of Capitol renovations. We will see if the Democrat Whitmer
administration will treat us any differently than did the Republican Snyder
administration, the administration that lead poisoned generations of Flint
citizens, adding numbers to the persons with disability community, and had
one blind person arrested for wanting to enter and attend the "free and open
to the public" 25th ADA anniversary celebration!

I believe Susan Fitzmaurice was among the group within the persons with
disabilities community that promoted and planned with the state to prevent
protests at the "free and open to the public "25th ADA anniversary
celebration.

With the past and current state of the ADA in Michigan, what specifically is
there to celebrate? There are still persons with disAbilities being paid
"slave " labor wages in sheltered sweatshops, and the percentage of blind
persons unemployed has not budged downward one bit from 70 plus percent!
And the State of Michigan cannot or will not make the state employment
website fully accessible to the blind, or make available or promote their
"hidden talent" employ persons with disAbilities executive order of years
ago. What truly is there to celebrate??

What is needed is a planned massive protest by Michigan persons with
disAbilities, not any celebration! A celebration only further gives license
for the State of Michigan to continue their poor failure performance and
lack of respect and dignity of and for persons with disAbilities!
We need not pat the state on the back for poor performance, and a message
of "good job".
