For the record, what I have written still stands. I am in regular contact with the Kalamazoo chapter members and its president who is also a member of our state board of directors. I speak to NFB staff and leaders in our national office on a regular basis. I am in full support of the responses to your previous emails that were sent by those in the chapter who responded to you. Asking those on this list to write to WMU was irresponsible especially since, as you well know, the chapter and leaders of our student division are in the process of working on this matter. As to your status as a chapter member you would have to pay dues to qualify as a member of the Kalamazoo chapter and the Michigan affiliate of the National Federation of the Blind. Those who subscribe to this list have a right to know what actions are sanctioned by the leadership at all levels of this organization.

Greetings all.
As president of the national Federation of the blind of Michigan I would
like to point out that the NFB speaks with one voice and any requests
inviting or directing any of our members to participate in any project or
survey need to be cleared through leadership.
Other disability groups or organizations do not speak for us and we do not
presume to speak for them even if we have similar points of view. When our
national organization allows a survey to be promoted on its list or website
it is with the understanding that NFB is not necessarily sponsoring or
endorsing a particular project, promotion or group.
If you have any questions concerning this, or the policy of our national
organization concerning such matters, you are welcome to contact me off
list.
My contact information is listed below.

Subject: [NFBMI-Talk] Disability Rights Advocates (DRA) sponsors Higher
Education Survey

Hello All,

At the suggestion of Robert Parsons I am posting the following information
for your consideration. Disability Rights Advocates (DRA) is a national
disability rights advocacy organization that advocates and litigates on
organizations and classes of individuals with disabilities to enforce civil
rights and other laws that make our lives better.

DRA is currently conducting a survey of higher education students with
disabilities across the United States. I have pasted the text about the
survey and a survey link as well as contact information for the east coast
DRA office.

Disability Rights Advocates is investigating the experiences of higher
education students who are denied disability-related accommodations for
remote learning.

We would greatly appreciate if you would complete the following survey if
you have confronted access barriers in remote learning.

If you would prefer to share your experiences via email or phone, please
contact Jess Miller-Suchet by email at

jmiller-suchet at dralegal.org <mailto:jmiller-suchet at dralegal.org>

or by phone at (510) 665-8644.

Disability Rights Advocates (DRA), a non-profit law center in Berkeley,
California, is investigating the experiences of higher education students
who are

denied disability-related accommodations for remote learning. The questions
below ask about your personal experience with requesting disability-related

accommodations before and after your college/university began remote
learning. This survey is entirely voluntary - feel free to share only to the
extent

you are comfortable.

Your personal information will not be shared with anyone outside of DRA. We
will look at trends in responses, and may contact a handful of people to
follow

up regarding your experiences, but any information you share with us (on
this form or otherwise) will be kept strictly confidential.

This survey should only take 5-10 minutes to complete, and will help us in
our effort to ensure that all students who need disability-related
accommodations

are able to thrive in college and beyond. If you would prefer to share your
experiences via email or phone, please contact Jess Miller-Suchet at
