Hello Everyone,

Michigan Department Of Education – Low Incidence Outreach (MDE-LIO), in collaboration with the Michigan Bureau Services For Blind Persons (BSBP), is excited to present a virtual career day conference, February 12, 2021,  for students 12 years and older, school personnel, parents, BSBP counselors, etc.  It has been many years since this type of event has been sponsored for students with a visual impairment! There will be several panelists consisting of, successful employees who are blind and low vision, an employer panel to discuss on the job expectations and goals, a keynote speaker and much more!! Registration closes on January 27, 2021. You and your students will not want to miss out on this event!  LIO and BSBP will be giving away fantastic gifts to participants! Virtual Career Day

Career exploration is an essential component of the expanded core curriculum. It is crucial that students who are Blind or Visually Impaired (BVI) have a realistic picture of the workplace environment and its expectations.

This Virtual Career Day event will help students ages 12 and up connect what they’re learning in school with the workplace, understand appropriate social behaviors required for employment, learn about a variety of jobs by interacting with business partners, and gain resources that will help them begin identifying career interest areas. A keynote presentation will be given by Leatrice Fullerton, program manager of Disability Network Southwest Michigan. Breakout sessions will also be offered.

Participants will:

*	Be exposed to a variety of careers and jobs by connecting with business partners
*	Gain a realistic picture of the workplace
*	Be enabled to begin identifying areas of career interest

This event is offered in collaboration with the Bureau of Services for Blind Persons (BSBP).
