Elizabeth:
Hello.
I respect the candor of your comments and, in particular, I respect
the reality--something I had not known before--that you are a veteran
of COVID-19. No, of course, I am not a physician or a biomedical
researcher of any kind, and I do not presume to give an expert
prognostication about where we will be with COVID-19 at any given time
in the future. I know a number of people who died or nearly died of
this horrific disease during 2020. And, furthermore, I would not
expect that you or anyone else in the Michigan affiliate or the
Indiana affiliate would make a concrete plan on March 6 or March 13 to
do anything specific in July. I am certainly not a COVID denier, as
some are in the religious institution where I worship. I signed up
for vaccination just two days after the state of Indiana deemed my age
group eligible. I have kids and elderly people in my home.
I am hopeful, however. And if it turns out that we are in a position
three or four months from now where it is possible for some of us to
gather in a reasonably safe way for a limited amount of time to
celebrate the Federation during the usual
season for doing this, I just am putting out there that I am game to
do it, since by that time we will all have missed out on a Washington
Seminar and two actual National Conventions due to COVID-19. All of
us on this list are adults, and all of us are perfectly capable of
making the decision that best fits our personal situations and
appropriately protects our families. Just putting the possibility out
there.
I hope that you are past your own point of greatest physical danger
and look forward to interacting with you and others more as time goes
on.
Respectfully,
-Kane
