Greetings, everybody. Please pass this on to anyone you feel would be
interested. I got
this from a PBS e-mail listserv, not from a blindness-oriented source.

I thought of NFB's Diversity & Inclusion program when I read this
advisory and wanted to be sure to signal this upcoming discussion and
PBS television episode to any African-American Federationists who care
about the intersectionality of blindness and being Black in America.

The story of Isaac Woodard is tragic, but unfortunately is not one of
a kind. A World War II veteran, hours after being honorably
discharged, Isaac Woodard was attacked by South Carolina police while
still in his uniform when taking the bus home and was left permanently
blind. The officers were acquitted by an all white jury.

The public television system will be highlighting this event and
giving us a chance to
pre-screen and comment on Mr. Woodard's story this coming Monday
evening, March 29 beginning at 6:00 PM Eastern Time U.S. You will
need to create an account with ITVS OVEE before being registered for
this screening and admitted to it; but this does not cost anything.
See below for details.

Refer to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaac_Woodard for a brief
accounting of his life.
