The birds may be relatively quiet at this time of year, but, there is still
a surrounding symphony  of insect sounds that can also bring listening
delight. We will still be searching for bird song while we learn more about
the insects; noisy like the mosquito and silent like the butterfly. We will
meet from 9a m to noon in the Environmental Interpretive Center in the
northwest corner of the University of Michigan Dearborn campus. Gather in
Room 119 though we will be spending as much time outside as weather and
insects allow. Hopefully, we can plant some new herbs in the Matt Clew
Butterfly Garden which was sponsored by the National Federation of the Blind
of Michigan. At this time of year we will only be planting herbs that
survive the winter and return next year as host plants for the beautiful
