Dear Fellow Federationists,
Based upon my experience as the present Capital Region Chapter President, I, with sadness must join Mark Eagle in his call for President Parson's resignation, or minimally, reform of present affiliate management practices, including removal of members and chapters in good standing, open meetings, and elections. A member of our chapter was unfairly summarily removed from participation in NFBMI activities without appropriate due process.
As a former NFBMI President for 10 years, I understand the issues raised by Mark. I am deeply saddened by the apparent turmoil within our affiliate. I sincerely hope that some calm and orderly process can be brought to bear and that love, and integrity will be the guiding lights of a positive solution.
Warmest Federation Regards,
Fred Wurtzel, President
Capital Region Chapter

Dear President Parsons,
I am writing to express my deep concern regarding recentdevelopments within the National Federation of the Blind of Michigan. It hascome to my attention that there have been several serious issues that underminethe integrity and transparency of our organization. These issues include:
- Election Fraud: There have been credible reports and evidence suggesting irregularities and misconduct during the recent elections at our 2024 State Convention. Such actions compromise the democratic process and erode trust among members and stakeholders.
- Conflict of Interest: It has been observed that there are significant conflicts of interest involving your position. These conflicts have raised questions about the impartiality and fairness of decisions made under your leadership.
- Lack of Open Meetings: The organization has failed to conduct open and transparent meetings, which is essential for maintaining accountability and fostering a culture of openness. This lack of transparency has led to a growing sense of distrust and dissatisfaction among members.
- Lack of Due Process in Member Expulsion: There have been instances where a member was expelled without proper due process. This not only violates the principles of fairness and justice but also undermines the rights of our members.
Given the gravity of these concerns, I believe it is in thebest interest of the National Federation of the Blind of Michigan for you tostep down from your position as President. Your resignation would allow theorganization to restore its credibility, rebuild trust, and ensure that itoperates with the highest standards of integrity and transparency.
I urge you to consider this request seriously and take thenecessary steps to facilitate a smooth transition of leadership. The future ofour organization depends on our collective commitment to ethical conduct andtransparent governance.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Mark A. Eagle MPA, BS
Chief Financial Officer/ Treasurer
National Federation of the Blindof Michigan
