Good Afternoon federation Family,
Greetings and happy blind equality achievement month (BEAM) to all of you.
The month of October is so special, whether you're working with your local
chapter, state division or independently to raise awareness of the efforts
of blind Americans every day. This year, our state affiliate is happy to
introduce our 2024 Dots with Distance campaign, a month-long effort to raise
awareness of the importance of braille through practice and promotion.
Dots with Distance offers supporters two options, both immersing the
participant in the braille code and informing the public of the work our
affiliate does each year. I encourage everyone to check out this
opportunity, especially because if you support the campaign by joining our
Braille Readers Brigade for $15, you receive an official BRB Passport card,
which enters you into a drawing for $150 cash at our 2024 state convention
in November. All proceeds from this campaign supports the 2025 NFBMI Braille
Enrichment Literacy and Learning (BELL) program, which further supports the
efficacy of blind youth in braille literacy. To read more about our campaign
and to support, please visit www.nfbmi.org/brb <http://www.nfbmi.org/brb> .
We look forward to all we can do to continue to promote braille in our
affiliate and nationwide.
With Love, Hope and determination,
Robert Parsons, Jr., M. A., CRC, CVRT, LLPC
