Good day Federation family and friends,

As we prepare for the 2024 National Federation of the Blind of Michigan
(NFBMI) State Convention, we are excited to share some of the key highlights
you won't want to miss! The event kicks off on October 31, and in the weeks
leading up to it, we will be posting information from sponsors and
exhibitors like Alpha Phi Omega and Birding By Ear and Beyond, two of our
white cane sponsors. Keep an eye out for these updates to learn more about
other amazing products, services, and opportunities that will be available
during the event. This year's convention promises to be a memorable
experience filled with networking, learning, and opportunities to support
the blind people's movement. As always, we encourage you to share
information about our state convention with your family and friends! If you
are posting on social media, please use our hashtag for this year, which is
NFBMI24

Alpha Phi Omega

Alpha Phi Omega is the largest, inclusive service fraternity in the United
States, dedicated to building leaders and fostering a strong sense of
community. With chapters in over 500 college campuses and universities,
Alpha Phi Omega unites volunteers, professionals, and students under the
guiding principles of Leadership, Friendship, and Service. Each project and
initiative undertaken by this organization emphasizes one or more of these
core values, encouraging collaboration and personal growth in an
ever-evolving world.

Birding by Ear and Beyond

Birding by Ear and Beyond is an inspiring program hosted at the
Environmental Interpretive Center at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
This initiative offers a unique way for blind individuals, along with
sighted friends and family, to explore the natural world. Participants learn
to identify birds by sound, recognize trees through touch, detect flowers by
scent, and taste herbs in the butterfly garden. The program's inclusive
approach proves that a deeper understanding of nature is possible without
relying on sight, empowering participants with confidence and environmental
awareness. If you'd like to learn more, feel free to reach out to Donna
