Greetings Federation Family,
I hope this weekend was enjoyable and you are off to a productive week
already. This message is to inform all active members that the 2024 NFBMI
resolutions committee has officially called for drafts. We are excited to
learn of all that we can accomplish in the next year with the help of our
membership and the guidance of our leadership.
The resolutions process is a building block of the National Federation of
the Blind, both nationally and in our individual affiliates. Resolutions are
intended to identify and communicate the position and direction of the
organization on record. Resolutions can address a variety of different
aspects of life; including services, education, health care, voting rights,
and other items; if it is both in line with our philosophical position as an
organization and aims to further ensure the equality, opportunity, and
security of Michigan's blind. The most exciting thing about resolutions is
that it puts the power of the organization in the hands of the membership
and leadership because we are the authors!
Members are encouraged to submit a draft resolution addressing a sector of
blind life you believe our organization should address or work toward. If
you are interested in learning more about what a resolution looks like, I
encourage you to visit www.nfb.org/convention
<http://www.nfb.org/convention> . After visiting the page, you will be able
to locate the 2024 resolutions that were voted on and passed in committee at
our 2024 national convention. The due date to submit draft resolutions for
consideration is October 15, 2024. Please submit draft resolutions via email
to President at nfbmi.org <mailto:President at nfbmi.org> on or before this date
to be considered. We look forward to reading about all you hope to introduce
with us in the future.
Well Wishes,
Robert Parsons, Jr., M. A., CRC, CVRT, LLPC
