Hello, fellow Hoosier Federationists.
I know we have several who are braving the weather and wearing out shoe
leather even now in Washington, DC to play the long game of getting
Congressional reps and senators to honor the Organized Blind
Movement's top legislative
priorities
<https://nfb.org/programs-services/advocacy/legislative-priorities> in the
119th Congress. Congrats to Misty Kienzynski and her awesome team of
legislative advocates.
But there is a short-term game going on at the same time. The material
below does not come from a Federation source, but it is from an ally org
called Justice In Aging <https://justiceinaging.org/> which is based in
Washington, DC.
While it will take a while for us in the Federation to score points by
getting our high-priority bills passed, Medicaid is under present threat.
I encourage you to read the article entitled 2025 Budget Stakes: Millions
Could Lose Health Coverage or See Costs Rise
<https://www.cbpp.org/research/health/2025-budget-stakes-millions-could-lose-health-coverage-or-see-costs-rise>
published
by the Center On Budget And Policy Priorities.
See below for a way all of us can make it known to our Congressional reps
and senators that Medicaid cuts are off limits. Even those of us who could
not make it to Washington this year can make our voices heard with a simple
phone call on Thursday, February 6.
Kind regards,
-Kane
