Bottom line up-front: Apply online for Washington Seminar financial
assistance <https://forms.gle/gmVqSMJRe8JNmnBE6> .
Dear friends,
>From January 29 to February 1, Federation members from around the country
will gather in Washington, DC to meet with our elected representatives and
senators. We recognize that attending this event may present a hardship for
some people, so we've established a process to apply for financial
assistance from the Minnesota affiliate for those who meet certain
requirements. (Please note that completing an application does not guarantee
receiving assistance and may not fund your entire trip.)
Requests must be made by completing this online application form
<https://forms.gle/gmVqSMJRe8JNmnBE6> and are due next Sunday, December 17
by 5:00pm CST.
The committee will give preference to those who have never attended a
Washington Seminar before, but members who have previously attended a
Washington Seminar are also eligible to apply.
In order to receive assistance, applicants must:
* Be a member in good standing of the National Federation of the Blind
of Minnesota; however, membership is not a requirement for those who are new
to participation in Federation activities
* Attend the affiliate caucus, the Great Gathering, the evening
debrief meetings, and appointments with legislators
* Fulfill post-event activities, such as writing an article for our
Bulletin newsletter or delivering a presentation to your local chapter about
your experience at the event
* Agree to read and abide by the National Federation of the Blind's
Code of Conduct
* Not be a current student of BLIND, Inc. (as the affiliate has
already provided a grant to the training center to fund students'
participation)
Every effort has been made to make this Google Form as accessible as
possible. However, we do not want any technical challenges you may
experience to be a barrier to requesting financial assistance. If you
encounter any difficulties completing this form, please contact Steve
Sawczyn, chairperson of the Financial Assistance Committee, by phone at
(207) 458-8270 or by email at Steve at Sawczyn.com <mailto:Steve at Sawczyn.com> .
Apply online now <https://forms.gle/gmVqSMJRe8JNmnBE6> , and be sure to hit
"submit" before next Sunday, December 17 at 5:00pm CST.
We look forward to hearing from you and hope to see you in Washington!
