Subject: FW: Teacher prep program in Oregon
I received the information below from Janice Stallings a Teacher of the VI, who is a member of the Kansas City Chapter of the NFB. I am not real familiar with the Oregon Program but do know that teacher shortages are a real problem and wanted to draw your attention to another threatened program. I am sure that Janice would appreciate any letters of support we may want to send to encourage the continuation of this program.
Thanks,
Shelia Wright

Subject: Teacher prep program in Oregon
Hi Sheila,
The Portland State University's preparation program for teachers of the blind and VI, Program for Visually Impaired Learners, has been suspended for the year. Professor Jim "Blue" Bickford and associates are fighting to keep the program open.
Letters to appeal to continue the program can be sent to these university officials:
Roy Kich, Provost
kochr at pdx.edu
Randy Hintz, Dean, Graduate School of Education
hitz at pdx.edu
Leslie Munson, Chair, Department of Special Education
munsonl at pdx.edu
Please send this to any interested chapter member. Your help is greatly appreciated.
