Subject: Thank you for all your help and last weekend for Dialog in the Dark

Hello Advisory Committee,

It is hard to believe that Dialog will be closing on Sunday. If any of your friends have not experienced it, please let them know this is their last chance.

I wanted to thank you all for helping us insure this was a quality experience - both for the guides and the guests. And that it was! We had approximately forty guides lead our guests through the "paths" and the guest comments were the strongest of any exhibit we have ever hosted. Many guests said this was a life changing event, from exposure to someone who is blind or visually impaired (often for the first time) to understanding how precious eyesight is. Manpower, Inc. will be meeting with many of the guides next week to help them transition to other employment opportunities.

We had challenges, of course, from a boat that leaked approximately 2,000 gallons of water on the gallery's wood floors to figuring out how to keep fresh fruits and vegetables well stocked. But the issue of leading folks in darkness for an hour, which many thought would be filled with hazards, proved to be well executed and, as I heard a young man say just yesterday, it was really worth the price. Of course, the economy overall impacted this experience, as it has all over the museum world. We welcomed 15,000 visitors, and had hoped for considerably more.

Thank you again for your guidance, and for some of you, for being guides. Please don't hesitate to contact us if there as ever anything we can do.

Best,

Linda
