Very thought-provoking, Fred, thanks for sending it on.   Even though I 
don't know Braille, I very much think
it's essential.  Thjere are, and always have been, sighted people who  
never read a thing after they leave 
school, depending on TV, radio and music for their 'literacy'.    The can 
functionally read a bit but the full
power of the language isn't there.
