Below is Mike's obituary which was printed in today's paper.  His visitation will be held at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, 2613 West Main St., Jefferson City, on Monday evening from 5 pm to 8 pm.  His funeral service will be at Houser-Millard on Tuesday at 2 pm with internment immediately following at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.  



Michael L. Merrick, 52, of Boonville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. He was born September 4, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late Walter and Roberta (Motley) Merrick. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Drury College in Springfield, Missouri. 

Michael worked for the Division of Family Service - Rehab Service for the Blind for over fifteen years, where he was Supervisor II. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he was a Staff Sergeant. Michael was a member of Freedom of the Road Riders, and enjoyed riding motorcycles, bicycles, and reading. 

He is survived by a daughter: Casey Merrick of St. Louis, MO; a brother: Walter Merrick (wife Mary) of St. Louis, MO; and a sister: Tammy Merrick of Troy, MO 

Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Missouri Council for the Blind or the National Federation of the Blind.
