Your hotel is located within walking distance to,

Olive Garden
And the Battlefield Mall (which has a food court)
There is also a McDonald's in the mall parking on the south side, which is where you are coming from.

If you are walking to the mall (15 minute casual stroll) you can cut through the ford car lot located just north of the hotel to bypass walking on the side of the access road.

Once past the car lot, there Is a traffic signal controlled intersection, and another small shopping center before you reach the intersection of Glenstone and Battlefield.

The shopping center has on the left an office supply store and a kmart, on the right side is the freestanding olive garden and a Barnes and Noble

Once past that there is the dual left turn lane intersection of glenstone and battlefield road.

I highly recommend you cross battlefield road using this spot only. It is the best controlled intersection in that area. There are other traffic light cotrolled spots along that side of the mall, but I consider the main intersection the safest.

I have walked that route for many years in the past. Once on mall property you can enter the mall on the south side at the (women's) Dillards and make your way to the food court, which is located on the far west side of the mall.

The mcdonald's is located in the parking lot between the dillard's and the food court.

If you go to the mcdonald's please be mindful of all the secondary driveways that can be used by vehicles to enter the mall. One entrance has a traffic control device and the other (closest to mcdonald's does not have one) I have been hit and nearly hit at each of these intersections by cars that were moving very fast but trying to turn onto Battlefield road. Needless to say, I usually avoided the mcDonald's at the battlefield mall.

There is a target directly south of your hotel Which is less than five waking minutes. It is very safe.

In the target parking lot is a culvers(burgers and ice cream) and an applebees.

There is a wal mart super center located a half mile south of the target
Please do not walk there. Get a cab or some other vehicle. You have to walk on the shoulder with a very active road on one side and a big drainage ditch on the other. Plus once you get to the wal mart the traffic patterns around the store are lousy.

The bus does stop on the east side of the store though.

Please consult Gary on the weekend schedule of that bus.

Enjoy your trip to Springfield. The citizens are nice. Please do not take their over-burdening desire to assist you as a sign of weakness, it is just how they are, trust me. I lived there for 22 years and they are overall nice people who mean well. Just tell them you are fine and wish them a good day.
