National Federation of the Blind of Michigan
2010 State Convention
Learning: the Key to Success
When: October 29th - 31st 2010
Where: Doubletree Hotel, 5801 Southfield Rd, Detroit MI 48228. To reserve
rooms call 313-336-3340. Nightly rates are $85 plus tax.
You can make your reservations before Friday, October 15th to receive our
special rate. When you make your reservations make sure to mention the NFB
of Michigan Convention to receive our room rates.
Preregistration is going on now through Friday, October 15th. During this
time registration for convention is $15 and a banquet
ticket is $35. If you wait after October 15th to register and purchase a
banquet ticket, you will pay $25 for registration and $45
for a banquet ticket. To preregister fill out the attached form and send it

Make all checks payable to the NFB of Michigan. You may also preregister by
visiting our website at www.nfb.org. Free child care is
provided during all seminars and banquet.
Our National Representative this year is Fred Schroeder, the keynote speaker
at our banquet Saturday evening. Fred Schroeder is the
first Vice President of the National Federation of the Blind, president of
the National Federation of the Blind of Virginia, and
former Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) commissioner.
Preliminary Schedule
(This is a tentative schedule, times of events may change)
Friday, October 29:
3 pm to 5 pm Resolutions Committee meeting - resolutions must be submitted
by October 15th to Dave Robinson. Contact Dave by email

4:00 pm Registration starts
5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Students Seminar.
7:00 pm to 10:00 pm Limo Scavenger Hunt for Youth, $20 to participate
7:00 pm to 8:00 pm Parents Seminar
8:00 pm Harvest activities and games with raffle drawings - Participate in
Harvest activities such as pumpkin painting, dunking for
apples, karaoke and other social opportunities. In addition, come and
support our local chapters and divisions as we hold a raffle
auction of various gift baskets.
9:30 Live entertainment featuring a local band
Saturday, October 30:
8:30 am to 12:00 pm Morning General Session
12:00 pm to 2:00 pm Lunch break
2:00 pm to 5:00 pm Afternoon General Session
7:00 pm Banquet
After the banquet there will be an auction where the money raised will go to
the youth outreach fund.
Sunday, October 31:
9:00 am Business Session with elections and resolutions
