Subject: Legislative Alert-President Signs Pedestrian Safety Enhancement Act

Fellow Federationists:

I am pleased to inform you that last night President Obama
signed the Pedestrian Safety Enhancement Act into law. The National
Federation of the Blind first brought this issue to Congress in 2008, and in
three short years, due to our collective action, the president signed
legislation to protect safe and independent travel for the blind and other
pedestrians.

Once again, thank you all for the outstanding work that you have
put forward to change what it means to be blind. Together we can, and
together we did. I look forward to working with you in the 112th Congress
to advance the rights of the blind.
