WOLFNER LIBRARY OFFERS FREE DOWNLOADS OF LOCALLY RECORDED BOOKS

Wolfner Talking Book and Braille Library is excited to announce the
availability of a new download service for digital audio books recorded at
Wolfner’s own recording studio located in Jefferson City, Missouri.

The SHELF Project (SHared ELectronic Files) provides an online catalog of
locally-recorded digital audio books, plus the capacity to download and play
them on a variety of devices available to eligible library patrons.
Missouri residents who are unable to read standard print materials due to a
physical or visual disability may be eligible to use Wolfner’s SHELF and
other free services from the library.

Missouri joins with Massachusetts, Idaho and Colorado to offer locally
recorded, downloadable audio books through the national SHELF project.
Other states, including Maryland, Utah and Vermont plus the Braille
institute of America in southern California, will soon come onboard and
users will have access to that content in addition to the Missouri titles
listed.

Audio book versions of national best-sellers and other high-demand books are
available through the Wolfner Library’s affiliation with the National
Library Service (NLS) in Washington, D.C. Books with a Missouri connection,
such as those by Missouri authors, with a Missouri setting and about the
state, as well as books nominated for Missouri school award programs that
are not being produced by NLS in the year the books are nominated, are
recorded by volunteer narrators at Wolfner’s recording studio.

Interested borrowers can access Wolfner’s SHELF Project through the library’s
online catalog, WolfPAC, http://wolfpac.sos.mo.gov/klasweb. Patrons can
browse the collection and download a desired title immediately. For more
information, call Wolfner Library at 1-800-392-2614 or visit us online at
