The only problem is that most of these so called specialist are not blind.  I know the one in my area particularly does not favor NFB philosophy.  We are already having problems with independence with that.  They think the kids are going to be slower, can be allowed to do less work, etc.  As they are not blind they make allowances as they think it would be hard.  Reality dictates that where there is a will there is a way, however, low expectations defeat that will.
