hi,

so why did the nfb have to go solo and reinvent the wheel/car instead of
colaborating with a company like google?
i have a theory but don't have time for the usual blasting returned.

I think one of the things we have to admit is that driverless cars will
have
accidents and perhaps they will be different from the accidents that cars
with sighted drivers have. There is probably no program in the world that
has ever been written and run that did not have to be modified. It is a
sad
truth of the world that important inventions sometimes involve deadly
mistakes. Mostly I think this technology will prove in the long term to be
far safer than human beings driving vehicles while distracted by their cell
phones, their children, and the list can go on forever. We are not ready
yet, but I think the fact that a state like Nevada and a company like
Google
are involved show that this dream goes far beyond what blind people want.
