Folks,
Here is the info from the home page of the National Do Not Call List:.
Notice that the number from the national website cited below is the same
as the number Gary posted.
Here's the info from the DNC home page:
Scammers have been making phone calls claiming to represent the National
Do Not Call Registry. The calls claim to provide an opportunity to sign up
for the Registry. These calls are not coming from the Registry or the
Federal Trade Commission, and you should not respond to these calls. To add your
number to the Registry you can call 888-382-1222 from the phone you wish to
register, or go click on “Register a Phone Number” in the left column of
this page.
Your registration will not expire. Telephone numbers placed on the National
Do Not Call Registry will remain on it permanently due to the Do-Not-Call
Improvement Act of 2007, which became law in February 2008. Read more about
it at _http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2008/04/dncfyi.shtm_
(http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2008/04/dncfyi.shtm) .
(https://www.donotcall.gov/register/reg.aspx) WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT
THE NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY
The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to
receive telemarketing calls at home. _Most telemarketers_
(http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt107.shtm) should not call your number once it
has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, you can file a complaint
at this Website. You can register your home or mobile phone for free.

Attention sellers and telemarketers: Go to
_https://telemarketing.donotcall.gov_ (https://telemarketing.donotcall.gov/) to subscribe to the National
Do Not Call Registry.
If you are an exempt organization, and you wish to scrub your call lists,
you may subscribe, but are not required to do so.
