Subject: [Nfbmo] Another Blind Pension Victory with Back Pay

Greetings
At a recent craft fair members of the Columbia Chapter came across a lady
whose brother was taken off the Blind Pension. I contacted Terrell Lamb and
told him some steps he might take with the Columbia office including
visiting the office. He and his significant other visited the office Tuesday
morning and were told there was nothing they could do except ask for a
hearing and that Eugene Coulter didn’t know anything about Blind Pension.
After being told about this reaction I quickly dashed off an Email to FSD
state office about the case and the trouble Mr. Lamb was having as well as
calling and Emailing the Boone County Director. Mr. Lamb was informed
Thursday morning that things were being corrected and he he would receive
back pay back to April which should be $6,399.00. They also apologized for
the confusion and inconvenience. The only other thing was he would have to
see an eye doctor in January.
I am glad I was able to get speedy action for him so he will have a very
Happy New Year!
Gene
PS- Anyone who has not had a recent eye exam can expect to have FSD send an
appointment letter as they are enforcing the five year (or less) requirement
for re-examinations, there are no exceptions even if you have artificial
eyes.
